WJAC picks up on Shade coach

In District 5, Football, Shade, WestPAC on August 26, 2009 at 8:47 am

WJAC-TV paid a visit to Shade’s football camp and profiled new head coach Gene Boley during Tuesday’s newscast.

It was a pretty nice piece from Matt Maisel, detailing Boley’s “unconventional” methods! Most importantly though, Maisel mentions that Shade has better than 40 kids out for football, the type of numbers Boley was looking for when QZ93 Sports profiled the new coach several months ago.

The Windber Ramblers got their time to shine on WJAC-TV’s “Two-A-Days” on Monday.

The Ramblers are positioned for a pretty good campaign, returning many of the key components from last year’s District 5 championship squad.

In that time, the roster expanded from its original size of 16, the team made three playoff appearances and the groundwork has been laid for successful seasons to come. Now, the young coaches are moving on, leaving the reins to longtime assistant Jerry Kaizen.

But Rullo and Hale aren’t going far, and they certainly won’t be without a close eye on the program they developed. More…
