Daily American gives us a complete rundown of previews

Congratulations to the Conemaugh Township Indians, the District 5 Class A champions after a thrilling victory over Windber on Friday night!

We told you it was going to be a good one, and we weren’t wrong. It came down to Scott Thomas’ field goal in the waning seconds to give the Indians the title, 21-20.

Be sure to keep an eye on this page, as we let you know about any future broadcasts involving the Indians, who get a week off before facing the District 7 (WPIAL) champion.

Shanksville hoopster doing some good

A warm thank you this morning to Shanksville’s Steve Keller, who’s organizing a charity basketball tournament to benefit the Susan B. Komen for the Cure Foundation.

The Daily American has the article on Keller, who is getting the tournament together for his senior project.

Here’s to wishing the best to Keller and his efforts! It’s a pleasure to have such students in our midst.

New Shade football coach excited for opportunity

New Shade football coach Gene Boley is a well-traveled man, so it’s no real surprise that he’s willing to do it again to help rebuild the Panthers’ downtrodden program.

Boley will make his first visit as coach to get things going next week as he ventures north from Adairsville, Ga. More…

The Bedford boys and girls teams each earned district championships on Wednesday at Northern Bedford, according to The Tribune-Democrat.

There were plenty of highlights on both the boys and girls side, but especially the girls, as one Conemaugh Township pole vaulter soared to new heights. More…

Shade freshman Kelli Shaw was sparkling on the mound as her Lady Panthers bested Shanskville 13-1 in five innings on Wednesday, according to The Daily American.

Shade scored six times in the first inning and six more in the third inning, though five were unearned. More…

Cougars roar at Boswell Jaycees Tournament

The North Star baseball team needed some heroics to escape in a first round win, then doubled-up Conemaugh Township in winning the 15th Boswell Jaycees Baseball Tournament on Saturday in Ferrellton.

The championship was just one of four games played at the tournament, which features top baseball teams from around the area. More…

Shade track team gets going tonight

For many athletes in the Shade track program, today’s going to be a learning experience. The team will visit Chestnut Ridge this afternoon with nearly half the squad having never participated in a meet.

“We’ll be trying to find events they can have success in and trying to make them better from meet to meet,” said Shade track coach Dave Mapes in an interview with QZ93 Sports. “Many of them will have their first meet (tonight) at Chestnut Ridge.” More…
