District 5 track titles dominated by Bedford

The Bedford boys and girls teams each earned district championships on Wednesday at Northern Bedford, according to The Tribune-Democrat.

There were plenty of highlights on both the boys and girls side, but especially the girls, as one Conemaugh Township pole vaulter soared to new heights. More…

D5’s NBC among girls’ leaders at West Central meet

Northern Bedford, powered by three wins from Taylor Crawford, scored a third-place finish on the girls side of the West Central Coaches meet Friday afternoon.

Crawford took top individual honors in the long jump, triple jump and 100 hurdles, according to the Altoona Mirror.

The Daily American notes that Windber’s Sarah Snyder set a new meet record with her efforts in the 300 hurdles. More…

Sell does the Boston Marathon

UPDATE: Brian Sell finished 14th in the 2009 Boston Marathon. His official time was 2 hours, 16 minutes, 31 seconds. He finished nearly eight minutes behind the winner, Ethopian Deriba Merga (2:08.42).


Former Northern Bedford and St. Francis standout Brian Sell will make another run at the Boston Marathon title when he lines up this morning in the famous race.

Sell took part in the marathon during the Beijing Olympics as a member of Team USA and finished fourth at the Boston Marathon in 2006.

Sell will compete in Boston Marathon (Altoona Mirror)
