Ferndale gets a man in place

WJAC-TV is reporting via a text entry on its web site that Tony Penna Jr. will take over as football coach and athletic director at Ferndale.

Penna becomes the fourth new head coach in the WestPAC this season, following Jim Fisher at Conemaugh Valley, Jerry Kaizen at Rockwood and Gene Boley at Shade.

Penna takes the place of Joe Arcurio, a former standout at Bishop McCort, who coached the Yellow Jackets’ football team for two seasons.

Penna has served as an assistant coach at Greater Johnstown for eight seasons, including the past four as offensive coordinator, according to WJAC.
