The North Star baseball team needed some heroics to escape in a first round win, then doubled-up Conemaugh Township in winning the 15th Boswell Jaycees Baseball Tournament on Saturday in Ferrellton.

The championship was just one of four games played at the tournament, which features top baseball teams from around the area.

Alijah Petrilla cranked a two-run homer in the sixth inning against Johnstown in the Cougars’ opener to provide the victory 11-10. That was just two of the six RBIs Petrilla had in the early game.

Johnstown went on to defeat Shanksville 15-2 in five innings in the consolation game. Zach Henry had four RBIs for the Trojans.

Conemaugh Township, meanwhile, blasted Shanksville in the first round, winning 11-1. Joe Roman earned Pitcher of the Tournament honors for his work in the game, allowing only four Shanksville hits.
