Shade senior Joel Kaminsky, just off being named the QZ93 Sports outstanding senior basketball player in Somerset County, threw a perfect game in a win for the Panthers on Thursday.

Kaminsky shut down Rockwood during a 10-0 six-inning, mercy-rule victory. Shade coach Paul Leonard had high praise for his pitcher.

“He is a first-rate student-athlete and deserves every accolade he has received through his hard work and dedication. He has made us all proud at Shade,” Leonard told The Tribune-Democrat.

Kaminsky got offensive help from junior Tyler Smith, who had three hits, including a double and triple, and three RBIs. Garrett Berkey added three hits and three RBIs in support of his fellow senior.
