More discussion among WPIAL schools regarding classifications

In Football, PIAA on April 17, 2009 at 10:29 am

The PIAA is scheduled for a third vote on a proposed six classes for football teams in Pennsylvania on May 21.

The Tribune-Review has been doing a good job keeping up with any developments, especially as it relates to WPIAL schools. An article published online today takes on the subject yet again, reinforcing the idea that the WPIAL schools are against any changes.

Among the concerns for schools in District 7 is the inability to have all of the district’s championship games at Heinz Field on the same day and the loss of some rivalries by the change in structure.

Any changes to the system could be interesting in this area, especially for schools that are close to cutoff levels under the proposed levels.
