Snyder speeds to Mount St. Mary’s

In College Sports, District 5, Track and Field, WestPAC, Windber on April 16, 2009 at 12:55 am

Windber senior hurdler Sarah Snyder inked a letter-of-intent on Wednesday to run on the track team at NCAA Division I Mount St. Mary’s next year.

Snyder finished fourth in the state last season in the 300 hurdles and has a great chance to pace the state this season for the Ramblers, who face Chestnut Ridge and Berlin in a key meet this afternoon.

Snyder is the latest of a string of Somerset County track stars to head the collegiate level. Most recently, Shade’s Jeremiah Wilt, a Shanksville student, began his college career at Hagerstown Community College, where Meyersdale’s Mike Podlesnik, a Salisbury student, and Windber’s Tony Clement have gotten their start.

Clement is now a member of NCAA Division I Oklahoma’s track team.
