Pitt’s Blue-Gold game gives area players the spotlight

In Bishop McCort, College Sports, Football, Greater Johnstown, Pitt on April 12, 2009 at 8:22 am

The Pitt Panthers football team has a host of local talent on its roster and some of those guys figured prominently in Saturday’s Blue-Gold game.

Richland graduate Marco Pecora intercepted a pass for the Pitt defense, which routed the offense. Greater Johnstown grauduate Antwuan Reed also factored in the scoring, though not for the reason he wanted.

Reed was beaten in 1-on-1 coverage by talented wideout Jonathan Baldwin for a long tuchdown for the offense. Otherwise, Reed was part of that outstanding defense with Pecora that controlled the game.

Bishop McCort product Mike Cruz got some valuable time at tight end to help boost his stock with the starting two tight ends out with injury.
