Meyersdale boys track team ramping up

The Meyersdale boys track team put together a strong showing a season ago, finishing with a  7-3 record.

While the start to this campaign has been a bit bumpy, things should improve for the Red Raiders as they look to join the race in the WestPAC this season.

“We are expecting a good season with our athletes peaking toward the end of the season,” Meyersdale boys coach Tony DiPasquale told QZ93 Sports in an email. “We have hopes that a few athletes can win districts and advance to states.”

Among those athletes the Red Radiers will rely on are a senior and a pair of juniors.

Senior Jared Anderson should be a leader this season in the field events for Meyersdale, handling the duties in the shot put and discus events.

Juniors Ian Edwards (hurdles) and Nick Boslett (400 meters) are also going to be relied upon to score points for the Red Radiers.

Boslett is part of the Meyersdale team but a student at Salisbury, which co-ops with the Red Raiders for several sports, including track and field.

“Salisbury does compete with our athletes and we are very happy to have their athletes compete with us,” DiPasquale wrote.

Like most track and field teams at this stage of the season, the Red Raiders are still getting events ironed out and looking to improve each week. Coupled with the early-season weather, the Red Raiders are off to a 0-2 start.

But with the talented athletes Meyersdale puts on the track on a consistent basis, chances are pretty good that the wins are right around the corner.
