Report: PIAA eyes six classes for football

In District 6, Football, PIAA on March 25, 2009 at 11:26 am

This story surfaced in the Post-Gazette on Saturday, noting that the PIAA Board of Controls voted in favor of using six classifications for football beginning in 2010.

While the vote doesn’t mean it’s a done deal, it does allow the PIAA to continue to explore some options, which could lead to moving the football season from 16 weeks to 15 weeks, according to the story.

Also of note, District 6’s Altoona, as well as Hollidaysburg, and also District 10’s Erie McDowell were approved for inclusion in the WPIAL beginning in 2010 for football only, if the PIAA remains with four classes.
