Bishop McCort headed to Penguin Cup final

In Bishop McCort, Hockey on March 19, 2009 at 6:49 pm

The Bishop McCort Crimson Crushers hockey team has had a ongoing battle with Serra Catholic.

But Thursday? That was no battle.

The Crushers exploded for three goals in a little more than a minute of the third period and cruised from there, topping the Eagles 9-3 in a Class A Penguin Cup semifinal game at Mellon Arena.

Zach Barto scored three times while Dane Domonkos and Kurtis Straw each had a pair of goals for Bishop McCort.

The Crushers will meet Mars on Tuesday at Mellon Arena at 6:30 p.m. for the Penguin Cup championship in Class A. The winner of the Penguin Cup faces the winner of the Flyers Cup for the state title.

Congratulations to the Crimson Crushers and best of luck on Tuesday.
