Legendary Trojan passes away

In District 6, Football, Greater Johnstown on March 17, 2009 at 9:43 am

Greater Johnstown football lost a legend in Dave Hart, who died at 83 of congestive heart failure, according to Hugh Conrad’s story in this morning’s Tribune-Democrat.

“… For many of us, we felt like we lost a father and a good friend,” Jerry Davitch said in an interview.

Davitch played with Hart on the 1958 WPIAL Class AA championship team, which topped Clairton 3-0.

Hart coached Johnstown for eight years, amassing a better than 80 percent win percentage. After Johnstown, Hart coached at several other colleges, including Pitt, and had served in athletic administration until 1991.
